Raven Rock
Located five hundred feet up the hill across from Portsmouth West High School (15332 US-52) Raven Rock provides a panoramic view of the Ohio River Valley below. There are many legends of how the feature got its name including the outcrop's resemblance to a raven taking flight. Reportedly used by the Native Americans in the area as a hilltop lookout and ceremonial place. The trailhead for the Raven Rock State Nature Preserve is located on Malone Cox Road just off US 52 across from the ETC Riverside Park in West Portsmouth.
